Hello! During the day I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy by training with over 20 years of practice.
I've grown up around food my whole life and helped my parents and paternal grandparents at our family restaurant after school. However, my love has always been for baking. With being the self-initiated preteen I was, I taught myself how to bake with cookbooks I checked out of the public library and watching cooking shows on TV. Soon, I was gifting people cookies in middle school and by high school and college, I had friends and coworkers pay me for my challah and my biscotti. There didn't seem to be anything I couldn't bake if I put my mind to it. I gravitated towards difficult things like yeast breads as who doesn't LOVE the smell of fresh, pillow-y soft loaves hot out of the oven!!!
Enter motherhood and severe food allergies to egg, dairy, peanuts, and tree nuts in my son. Naturally, as an established baker and a scientist at heart, I jumped right into the kitchen alchemy that it took to "veganize" my existing recipes so they were safe for him. I was determined that food that is safe should NOT have to sacrifice taste and texture. Luckily, I succeeded! You can't even tell the difference now.
Hence, it has become a mission of mine to share allergy-friendly baked goods with other families so that everyone feels included at the table at mealtime!
